Who Is It For?

Hair loss in men can happen at any age but the sooner you start treatment the better the results will be. So if you notice thinning hair, receding hair line or bald spots then it is time to take action.

What causes hair loss?

Genetics plays a large role in whether or not you experience Male Pattern Baldness. If genes are the architects of our baldness, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the construction worker. This molecule is a by-product of testosterone, which is why men most frequently suffer from hair loss. Other reasons for hair fall include malnutrition or illness, and it’s critical to eliminate these potential causes. Which is why our free comprehensive medical review is important.

Is it possible to treat hair loss?

Yes, to a great degree it is possible to stop or even reverse it. But it is important to start early. The first signs include thinning hair and gradual receding hair line. However, at a certain point, the hair follicle also loses attachment to the small muscles in the skin. When this happens, hair loss is permanent.

How long does it take to treat hair loss?

Finasteride and minoxidil typically take 3 to 4 months of daily use to start seeing visible changes. It can take up to a year to see the maximum results.

Got questions? We have answers.

What causes male pattern baldness?

Androgenetic Alopecia, otherwise known as male pattern baldness (MPB) is the most common type of hair loss. MPB occurs when longer, darker hairs that once grew on the scalp are replaced by thinner, shorter, less pigmented hairs. This is due to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone derived from testosterone.

How does the medication work?

Finasteride works by blocking the conversion of testosterone into DHT, a hormone that causes male pattern baldness. You’ll notice less hair fall and thicker hair within 3-6 months of starting treatment, and increased hair growth/hair regrowth with continued use. Minoxidil induces an early development phase when applied on your scalp by increasing blood flow. Together, Finasteride and Minoxidil offer a powerful combo to promote hair regrowth

Is hair loss treatment effective?

In short, yes, but as with all medicines, they don’t work for everyone. Hair loss treatment can work to preserve hair and possibly even regrow hair. As per studies, it has shown 85% success rate. If you stop taking the medication, it stops working.

How quickly will I get my prescription after I submit my request?

Our medical practitioners will review your submission within 2-3 days. If you do not hear back from our team even after that time, please email care@yourmd.ca.

How much will the medication cost?

The medication cost will depend on the type of drug, duration and if it is covered by your insurance. But it is usually 30$ for a 30 day supply.

Is the fee covered by employee health insurance plans?

Yes, this fee is reimbursable by most benefit plans that include a flexible health spending account. Check with your insurance provider for your exact policy. We’re happy to provide receipts compatible with your insurance provider’s reimbursement requirements.
